Athens

Dr. Cherry Greenacer
Athens, GA

office phone # 706/542-3221

I had an emergency and couldn't get my vet to call me back on Sunday, so I called Cherry Greenacer and asked what to do when my Scarlet Macaw bit the foot almost off of my Cockatiel, when it had landed on her cage.  The foot was dangling by a thread.   I did what she told me to do over the phone, which was to clean it and wrap it with gauze and get some antibiotics, as soon as I could get hold of my vet.  That Cockatiel has somehow recovered full use of its foot and is fine now.  If you can't get hold of a vet to treat your bird, the next best thing is to have one tell you what to do in the meantime, Cherry is the one.  She can also walk a vet through the process, if he's not too knowledgeable about birds.  She is a Board Certified Avian Vet who teached Vets to be Board Certified at the Veterinary University in Athens, Georgia.   Many vets claim to be avian vets, but if they aren't Board Certified, you can't be sure of the degree of knowledge that they have.  She is the BEST!

Dr. Sheppard specializes in Exotics. She has many years experience in treating birds. I have a very fine collection of South American and African Parrots and drive over 100 miles to have her treat my birds. In my experience, Dr. Sheppard is the finest avian veterinarian in the southeastern US.

Smyrna

Dr. Becky Johnson
Windy Hill Animal Hospital
2170 Windy Hill Rd, Ste. B
Smyrna, GA 30080

office phone # 770/333-9030

She is the best, especially with the babies.  I have been breeding and raising birds for 10 years and have found her to be caring and knowledgable.  She does not over charge or do un-necessary work, if it is necessary she will make the calls to other vets if she thinks they cazn help.  Highly Highly recommend her and that's saying a lot from a breeder.
