Birds of a Feather Aviary strives to raise healthy, happy, secure baby birds and match them with owners who will provide them with their forever homes. In doing so, we have adopted the following Policies:

CLOSED AVIARY

Our Aviary is a Closed Aviary. No visitors are allowed to walk through and “see the birds”. Birds for purchase are shown BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Birds may be picked up BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.

For our records and as part of our security policy, we require all visitors to the premises to fill out a form with personal information. This also helps us to determine your needs as a bird buyer.

BIRDS

We do not sell unweaned babies, unless to other breeders. Please do not ask to buy your pet unweaned and finish out the handfeeding. The bonding process does not depend on your handfeeding and will not be stronger if you handfeed rather than us.

All birds sold are closed-banded with traceable leg bands (unless otherwise noted) to identify each individual bird. If the leg band is removed, the health guarantee is voided.

HEALTH GUARANTEE

All birds are sold with a HEALTH GUARANTEE. At the time of sale/shipping/pickup, the birds are guaranteed to be in good health.
We offer a 72-hour health guarantee, wherein buyers are strongly encouraged to have the bird examined by an avian veterinarian. If, during this 72 hour period, the birds are found, by an avian veterinarian, to have a condition which affects their health or well-being, then upon verification of this condition to us, we will either pay for the medication needed to treat the bird, refund the purchase price (with return of the bird) or supply the buyer with another bird. We reserve the right to obtain a second opinion at our expense.

Birds Of A Feather Aviary must be notified IMMEDIATELY if any changes are noticed in the bird’s Health during the 72 hours after purchase. If bird dies within the allotted time, refrigerate bird {DO NOT FREEZE} until a necropsy can be scheduled to determine LIABILITY and possible replacement of bird (with-in 72 hours).

Failure to have the bird examined by an avian veterinarian, to notify us immediately if changes occur in the bird’s health within the 72-hour time period, or failure to submit the deceased bird for necropsy indicates the buyer’s agreement that they have purchased the bird in an 'AS IS' condition and forever waives any warranties of health, fitness, merchantability, breeder, pet, or show potential.

After the delivery/acceptance of the purchased bird(s), any vet bills incurred will be at the purchaser’s expense.

DEPOSITS AND PURCHASE

A 50% non-refundable deposit, applicable to the purchase price, will reserve a bird. Deposit will only be refunded if bird(s) are undeliverable on seller's side. A DEPOSIT AGREEMENT must be signed at the same time the deposit is paid.

*No birds will be held without a deposit.*

At the time of purchase or final payment, both parties will sign a SALES AGREEMENT. The Sales Agreement details the terms of your purchase and Birds Of A Feather Aviary’s health guarantee.

Money orders, cash and cashiers checks are accepted for preferred forms of payment, but we will accept business or personal checks. However, all checks must clear the bank before bird(s) can be shipped or delivered. If checks are returned there will be a $25.00 fee added. Sorry, at this time, no credit cards are accepted.

All birds are to be paid in full before delivery is made or at time of pickup. No exceptions!

SHIPPING

We will ship at buyer’s expense.

We ship Continental Airlines Quikpack Only!
We DO NOT SHIP USPS - it is ILLEGAL!

Generally, the cost is $100.00, plus about .15/lb.
Weight must be under 9 lbs, including crate and birds.
Multiple birds can be shipped in one container.

Shipping crates cost $20.

For shipping, all monies due must be received prior to shipment and checks must clear the bank before birds are shipped. I will check with you regarding acceptable times and dates before booking the flight for your bird(s).

All shipments are automatically insured by the airlines for $50.00 ONLY. If you wish to have additional insurance purchased on the bird, a health certificate must be obtained. The cost for a health certificate is $35.00. Additional insurance is $.50 per $100 purchased.

Live delivery is guaranteed. All claims must be substantiated by a Carriers Exception Report sent the same day that the shipment is received. The closed band MUST be returned with this report.

Thank you for understanding that although we do not raise and sell baby birds strictly for the money, (it only pays for the food!) having policies in place is a necessary evil of doing business. It protects not only us, but you as well.
